Rally of the Hills - Friday January 19 2001
We had a good test for the SROA at the Rally of the Hills. I was number two behind local lad Damien Moran and ahead of SROA regular Declan Lynch on Darragh's Magna. I did not bring my new WRC to the rally because I was trying to concentrate on getting my driving because the ownership of such a fantastic machine is making me a bit lazier in my preparation.
The rally was run over four stages, two forward and two backwards. However I never struggled except for losing one of the forward stages to Damien. Dekky Wekkey was way off the pace too. In fact he didn't post a single time above third place. The rally was a good test of driver and threw up many a confusing obstacle like steps, ruts, rocks and more.
For now it is back to getting the new Emmelle Outlaw WRC back and running. The car has spent a lot of time in the workshop due to various problems with the gearbox but I will have a new gear setup before the Rocky Rally. We are testing on tarmac mainly for the event as it is now a lot smoother than in previous years. Of course DG won't be there (well as a driver anyway) having retired from the series... NOW WE HAVE A CHANCE....more after the next event in Creenagh.
